Who We Are

A group of dedicated volunteers from all walks of life who care passionately about improving educational opportunities and support for those affected by Dyslexia and related conditions such as ADHD, Dyspraxia and Autism.

Our members are parents, carers, health and educational professionals, as well as many others.

We are here to help anyone who needs support for a Dyslexic Child, Adult or Professional.

We are a registered Charity (number 1129358) andwe’re a Company limited by guarantee (number 6707963) registered in England and Wales.

Dyslexia North East is affiliated to the British Dyslexia Association and is a Local Dyslexia Association Branch. We have 2 representatives who share the Local Association Board role.


What do we offer?

Information and Support.

Information, and support for parents and carers of children and adults with dyslexia, or related conditions. Resource Library with books and CDs on Loan.

A regular Newsletter.

A regular Newsletter and email information about Events and Meetings.

An Events Programme

An Events programme, including educational meetings, Conferences and Workshops for parents, teachers and health professionals.

Workshops

Workshops can be arranged in Schools for Parents and Children, or Parents and Teachers. Workshops in the work place, and businesses to raise awareness and understanding about dyslexia.

Fun Activities for Children

Fun Activities for Children age 10+ and teens to boost their self esteem and confidence.

Dyslexia Screening

Dyslexia Screening, Assessment by qualified staff and volunteers.

Tuition

Tuition, IDL scheme, Cogmed memory training course.

Meetings

Regular meetings for parents/children and professionals including teachers at RGS Junior School Newcastle on 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month 6-8pm.
Consultations can be given at Wallsend Town Hall office or other convenient venues for anyone who needs help and support. Please phone for an appointment.
Handwriting courses are planned for children in 2016. Please contact the office for details.

Talking Circle for Parents

4th Thursday of the month in term-time at RGS Jun School. For mutual support, exchange of ideas and tips to help each other, and your children.

Who can join?

Anyone who is interested and wants to know more, or needs to have help and support. We welcome helpers and volunteers to come along and join us. We would be glad to hear from you.
